STUDIO ASSISTANTS
On any given day, I will be painting in my studio with three cats.
They are wonderful companions but are also my harshest critics
SIMON: THE PATRIARCH
Simon has strong opinions about art. He feels most “abstracted landscapes” are derivative. The only artist he respects is Cezanne. “Look at Cezanne’s trees,” he tells me, “don’t disappoint me,” he pleads, or at least that is what I think he is telling me with his blank, condescending stare. He most enjoys staring at his reflection and is worried that Harper will unseat him from his position on the windowsill. “If you come at the king, you best not miss” I have heard him say.

HARPER: THE SUPPLICANT
Harper’s opinions on art are the same as Simon’s. Harper's opinions on music and podcasts are also the same as Simon's. He enjoys staring intently at birds and agreeing with Simon. He specializes in knocking things off of higher things and walking in paint. One day he will disagree with Simon.
LUNA – THE DISRUPTOR
Luna is easily agitated and quick to anger. She rejects the patriarchy. She looks at me as if to say “you call that art?” She creates a hostile work environment in the studio. She is watching me as I type so I won’t say more.
